Edmonton Update #6 | What I've Been Up To

In this update I will share some of what's been keeping me busy during my full treatment days. I leave the house around 10am (nice to not have to rush out the door in the mornings!) and I am not usually back until around 5pm. I'm thankful that I have been able to drive myself to treatment every morning, and that my brother inlaw Matthew who works downtown and uses transit, offered to bus to where I am after work and then drive us both home! This is working really well and I really appreciate not having to drive home when I am most tired from a full day!

Near Infra-Red Sauna therapy. I do this every weekday for detox and to strengthen my immune system, as well as part of a treatment protocol to remove the mold toxins that have accumulated in my body. That protocol consists of taking Niacin, a B vitamin that helps open things up in the body, then immediately stepping (not jumping, I'm too weak) on the rebounding trampoline to get my heart rate up and get things moving, and then a half hour of sauna therapy.

Full Body Hyperthermia. This dome increases your internal body temperature to induce a fever. A fever is your body's most natural and most powerful defense against invaders. It stimulates the immune system like no other treatment or therapy can, and since bacteria, candida, and viruses are heat sensitive, it is very effective at killing them off. I have to be honest, this treatment is ROUGH. My body temperature is raised between 102 to 104 degrees F. Mentally it is sometimes difficult to keep calm, but then I focus on Whom my strength comes from, and about all the bacteria and viruses that are dying and it helps me push through. This is conducted under close supervision and I'm given fluids and oxygen for the duration. My blood sugar and blood pressure are also monitored and have to be high end of normal before going in as this therapy can drop both quite a bit. My blood pressure alone dropped by 10 points on both the top and bottom number earlier this week!

This portion of the specialized hospital clinic recently moved and redid the entire new location so there are areas still being finished. It has been fun watching the new clinic come together, and the conversations with the staff about set-up and decorating has been a nice distraction from treatment. The medical staff have been a huge part of my life here in Edmonton and the relationships built are special.

PEMF bed and caster oil pack with mineral heat lamp. This is done every weekday as well. Caster oil packs have many benefits for your organs and detoxes your liver.

PEMFs help to open cell membrane channels, allowing nutrients better access to the inside of the cell and also helping the cell to eliminate waste better. By balancing the energy of the cell membrane, the cell will be healthier and more resistant to the hidden forms of the Lyme disease in the cell, which antibiotics have been proven to be ineffective in killing. Lyme disease in the brain, called neuro-borreliosis, is especially challenging to treat. Many medical treatments and nutritional approaches do not access the hidden Lyme bacteria in brain tissue, due to not being able to get through the blood brain barrier. PEMFs have been shown to increase the diffuse-ability of the blood brain barrier, allowing better access of treatments, supplements, herbs and nutrients into the interior of the brain’s nerve cells.

PEMFs also help with reducing inflammation, improving circulation, reducing pain and in general improving the value of other treatments. This treatment is my favourite! The PEMF mattress puts me to sleep almost every afternoon.

Detox Baths. These I just do at home in the evenings, and even though it is for the purpose of detoxing it is a really nice way to relax before going to bed. Well, except for the blood sugar drops I sometimes get from the heat - but I only had to call Lorelle once to quickly bring me fruit so I didn't faint! I have a list of various kinds of detox baths to rotate at home, but for during treatment in Edmonton I was told to do Epsom Salt and Hydrogen Peroxide baths.

Not pictured are many of the other treatments I do that vary from day to day. Massage therapy, lymphatic drainage massage/jade therapies, various scans and tests, appointments with the nutritionist, addressing mental well-being and past traumas, nervous system work and breathing techniques etc, etc.

Including today, I have only 10 days of treatment left. Time has flown by. We are beginning to talk about my treatment and rehabilitation plan for when I return home, so I'll share about that closer to my departure or once I'm home, depending how busy and tired I am. What I am told is that both treatment and my lifestyle will look different than it was before, and that the long recovery, which is usually years long, is the hardest part (most think it's the treatment). We continue to pray these treatments are successful and that if it be God's will, He graciously grants healing and recovery.

I'll end this with an update that my sister Lorelle shared yesterday. Thank you, Lorelle! It's such a treat having that done for me, as well as having your perspective. <3

A little update on Nadine, written by Lorelle 😊❤️

Nadine has had some bad days, but more good than bad lately 😊. Physical body pain is getting much better and often has days without much besides muscle and physical fatigue, though she does have lots of pressure in her head and often has bad headaches. She is able to tolerate full days of treatment better this week than last week, and much better than the week before which indicates that the detoxing treatments etc. are doing their job. Though in general her good days are what we would call bad days when it comes to fatigue and head pressure/pain, she and we are seeing improvement 😁💖
On Monday we did a big grocery shopping trip together and she didn't need to sit down on the floor, or need breaks and she didn't even take her cane! 😁. This is an improvement on the first shopping trip we did together when she got here 2 months ago, before treatment even started, that grocery shopping trip she needed to take several breaks and also sat in the floor 2x once in an aisle, and once at the checkout.

These improvements are encouraging to see, but we also know that Nadine still has a long recovery process ahead of her, specifically when it comes to her immune system recovery, and physical therapy. As I understand it, there is no test to see if the Lyme is gone all the way, time will tell if it's in remission or not.

My parents and my sister and brother-in-law (Matt and Nicole ) are planning to drive down at the end of this week for a visit, and then late next week they plan to take Lucas and Brandon home with them. Kyle plans to fly here late next week, stay for the weekend, and fly home with Nadine on Monday, May 21.

We thank you very much for your support and prayers!

We know that all things are in our Heavenly Father's loving hands.
